Shafaq News / The Secretary General of the Parliament, Sirwan Abdullah Sereni issued a statement on Saturday, on the occasion of recalling the tragic martyrs of the first of February 2004.

Below is the text of the statement:

"On this day, we recall with sadness and sorrow the 16th  anniversary of the heinous terrorist crime committed by the forces of evil, terrorism and darkness by targeting a group of militants, officials and citizens in Erbil city in 2004, where two criminal suicide bombers detonated themselves in the midst of these groups who answered the call of their God “.

Among the martyrs were leaders and militants who sacrificed their precious lives in combating injustice and tyranny decades in which they struggled with the rest of their brothers.

On this painful and sad occasion, we stand with reverence for the souls of the martyrs of the first of February and all the martyrs of the Kurdish liberation movement who sacrificed their lives for the cause of their people, underlining the most wonderful images and meanings of sacrifice and redemption.

We affirm that we are following the same path that they started and ended with, in order for the people of Kurdistan to enjoy security, safety and welfare, we pledge to our Kurdish people and their national leadership to continue the struggle to achieve our goals in freedom and democracy.

We greet the martyrs of this tragedy and our martyrs throughout history. "
