Claims in Kurdistan Region to grant Iraq membership in the International Criminal Court

Shafaq News/ The Organization of victims of chemical bombardment in Halabja province called on Wednesday , the Kurdistan Regional Government to pressure Baghdad to obtain Iraq's membership in the International Criminal Court.

"We call on the regional government to pressure the federal government in Baghdad in order for Iraq to get membership in the court," member of the organization, Hikmat Sadiq said a news conference in Halabja today.

He also called on the government of Kurdistan to cooperate with the International Criminal Court to condemn the countries and entities involved in al- Anfal operations and the genocide, and work with the international police to prosecute the persons involved in those crimes.

Sadiq also called for severing diplomatic relations with the member states of the tribunal until membership in Iraq is granted.
