Putin's envoy hopes for a promising future for Russia and Kurdistan region

Shafaq News / The Special Representative of the Russian President for Middle East and North Africa Affairs , Mikhail Bogandov said on Thursday that he held "important" discussions in Erbil during his meeting with officials in Kurdistan Region.

"We discussed in depth and detailed bilateral relations, and we hope that there will be a promising future between Russia and Kurdistan region," Bogandov added in a statement to reporters today in Erbil.

He added that among the issues discussed are the issue of companies operating in Kurdistan Region and the future of bilateral relations in the energy and other sectors.

Bogandov indicated that he exchanged views with the Kurdish parties on the situation in the region and Iraq, noting that discussions were held with Kurdistan Region to increase coordination in confronting extremism and ISIS.
