Kurdistan to ease lockdown restrictions on one condition
Shafaq News / The Minister of Interior of Kurdistan Regional Govermnet (KRG), Rebar Ahmed, announced, on Tuesday, that the provinces and independent departments are authorized to ease curfew procedures, provided that they stick to preventive health measures.
"All the governors and departments demanded some powers to study the situation and make some adjustments , mitigate and facilitate some procedures, but at the same time we asked them to adhere to health procedures,” Ahmed said in a press conference attended by Shafaq News Agency.
"If we do not comply with the procedures, we will reach a dangerous stage and time. The infections and deaths will be very high."
"The measures will remain the same and the inter-governorate ban will continue, we demand citizens in areas outside the region to return after the end of the curfew and protect themselves,” the Minister added.
He attributed on Tuesday, the high rate of corona virus infections in the region to the lack of commitment of the people to preventive measures.
"What happened in Penjwin and Sulaymaniyah regions of lack of commitment and high number of infections proved that."
"Those who rumored that the virus doesn’t exist for political purposes proved wrong with the high number of infections and deaths according to the assessments, the number of deaths in Kurdistan will rise."
"We are in a dangerous stage if we do not stop this epidemic. The situation will be catastrophic,” Ahmed concluded.
