Shafaq News / Diyala Operations Commander, Major General Ghassan Khaled Al-Ezzi described on Wednesday, the attacks carried out by "ISIS" organization in the province as "a miserable thieves war", indicating that the organization is trying to prove its existence.

“Sniping, explosions and farm burning are methods used by terrorist gangs in remote and open areas," noting that “these are banditry methods   practiced in orchards and remote agricultural areas, “Al-Ezzi told Shafaq News Agency.

“These methods do not threaten the stability of the security forces or the security file throughout the province, despite its complicated geographical location," noting that "the security forces use new methods and military techniques to monitor and pursue ISIS snipers through advanced thermal cameras and endoscopes in all regions where there are some security incidents. "

Diyala operations leader attributed the incidents of burning farms that some areas witnessed recently, " to the presence of subversive outlawed gangs in addition to ISIS remnants that are trying to harm the local economy", noting that farm fire incidents occur annually in Diyala, Salahuddin and other provinces governorates coinciding with the harvest season."

Diyala is witnessing an escalation in security incidents, especially in the northeastern parts of the governorate, near the security hotspots and borders with Kirkuk and Salahuddin , which are the dens and strongholds of ISIS elements.

Several areas of Diyala, Salahuddin and Nineveh provinces also witnessed fires that affected large areas of wheat and barley fields, in conjunction with a declaration of self-sufficiency, according to the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture.
