Local official warns of a reboot of an old terrorist series in Diyala

Shafaq News/ A government official in Diyala warned on Wednesday of the houses bombing series to the hotspots, Al-Qaeda tactic between 2005 and 2009.

The deputy commissioner of Abu Saida district, Abdullah Ahmad Al-Hayali, told Shafaq News Agency, "ISIS members seek to revive the series of bombing houses in al-Waqf belt areas, northeast of Baqubah. In the past 48 hours, they blew up two houses in the village of Al-Makhisa."

He warned that ISIS sleeper cells "are trying to exploit the security forces by dealing with tribal conflicts in Abu Saida district and other villages to implement plans that confuse the security plans."

Al-Hayali stressed the need to "strengthen the military presence in the vicinity of orchards and agricultural villages emptied by the terrorist operations over the past few years."

He added, "Terrorist groups seek to shuffle cards and provoke tribal and sectarian sedition by targeting residences for retaliation and old revolts dating back to years ago."

Al-Hayali concluded, "Diyala and al-Waqf area waived the house-bombing war six years ago due to security and intelligence plans and the flight of many terrorist elements and leaders to other governorates."
