Iranian army sends a warship to protect maritime navigation in Gulf of Aden
Shafaq News/ Iran's military chief of staff, Mohammad Baqeri has announced the dispatch of "Sahand" warship to protect maritime navigation in the Gulf of Aden in its first foreign mission.
Baqeri said that the "Sahand" battleship arrived in the Gulf of Aden on its first overseas mission aimed at protecting and accompanying merchant ships in the Sea of Oman and the Gulf of Aden.
He added that a support ship and "Khark" helicopter from the Iranian navy No. 23, will accompany the barge during its mission.
This is not the first time Tehran has sent warships to that area, and is often even sent to the Red Sea to protect merchant ships and oil tankers from piracy.
