Iran's deaths from Corona virus rise to 23 people

Shafaq News / The governor of Lahijan city in the northern Iranian province of Gilan, Ismail Mir Ghazanfari announced on Thursday, the death of three people as a result of infection with Coruna virus, bringing the death toll from the virus to 23 in Iran.

Ghazanfari told the official Iranian agency, "IRNA", that "three of the seven suspected deaths in Lahijan were tested and confirmed to be infected with Corona virus," adding, "We are not aware of the rest of the deaths, and if we obtain certain information, we will announce it officially."

The Governor of Lahijan called on the residents of his city to cooperate with the administration and local government to combat Corona virus, calling on them to stay in their homes.

On Wednesday, Iranian authorities said the number of Corona victims in the country rose to 20 among 185 cases.

Last night, Iranian Health Minister Saeed Nemki said that Friday prayers will not be held this week in cities affected by Corona virus in Iran.

Qom is considered Corona virus infection epicenter in Iran, followed by Gilan province then the capital, Tehran, according to press reports.
