‘Baby of British Daesh bride dies in Syria’
The lawyer of Shamima Begum has today claimed that her newborn son has died in Syria.
“We have strong but as yet unconfirmed reports that Shamima Begum’s son has died. He was a British citizen,” lawyer Mohammed Akunjee posted online today.
Begum’s son, Jerah, was born on 17 February 2019. She named him after her first son, who died before she reached Syria’s Al-Hawl refugee camp. Begum was later moved from the camp after she received death threatens from Daesh operatives for speaking to the media.
The 19-year-old travelled to Syria from the UK with two of her friends in 2015 to join the terror group in Raqqa. There she married a Dutch fighter and gave birth to two children, both of whom have since passed away.
She hit the headlines again last month when she was found in a refugee camp in Syria and gave exclusive interviews to the press, asking to return home.
However her efforts to return to the UK were quashed when Home Secretary Sajid Javid ordered for her citizenship to be revoked, vowing not to allow any Daesh fighter to return to Britain and to try anyone who does enter the country.
