Shafaq News/ US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, has urged Sudanese army commander Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and Rapid Support Commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, also known as "Hamidti," to adhere to a 3-day truce coinciding with the advent of Eid Al-Fitr.

In separate phone calls with both commanders, Blinken condemned the "indiscriminate" fighting that has resulted in many civilian deaths and injuries and the destruction of basic infrastructure.

The US top official called on both sides to abide by the 72-hour ceasefire called for by the United Nations or at least until the end of Eid al-Fitr.

Blinken expressed deep concern about the danger posed to civilians, relief workers, and members of diplomatic missions, including members of the US mission that came under fire during the past days.

Yesterday, the United Nations, the United States, and some countries called for a 72-hour ceasefire between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces and to "sit at the dialogue table" for the situation to return to normal.
