Lebanon: Foreign parties may be involved in Beirut's explosion

Shafaq News / The Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, announced that the cause of the devastating explosion in Beirut Port is still unknown, and there is a possibility that the tragic accident was caused by "foreign interference".

Aoun confirmed, On Friday, in statements published by Lebanese and international media, that, the investigations will reveal whether the explosion was an accident or was caused by negligence or possible foreign interference". 

He continued, according to Reuters, "the cause of the explosion is still unknown and there is a possibility of external interference through a missile, a bomb, or anything else". 

The authorities will check satellite images to ascertain whether the explosion, that killed at least 154 citizens, was the result of external action or internal negligence.

"The investigation will focus on identifying the responsible for the Beirut bombing", adding, "the reconstruction process will begin as soon as possible. The doors of the courts are open to adults and children, and there is no cover for anyone", he said.
