Iraq declares state mourning for the Emir of Kuwait

Shafaq News / The Iraqi government issues an official memorandum announcing public mourning in the country on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, for the passing of the Emir of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The media office of the Prime Minister said, in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, "Iraq is a government and people who share their grief with the brothers in the sisterly State of Kuwait in the passing of His Highness Prince Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah".

He added, "On this painful occasion, we announce the official public mourning throughout the Republic of Iraq for one day, the 30th of this September, in honor of the memory of the great deceased, his honorable stances towards Iraq and its causes, and his efforts to extend security and stability in the region".

On Tuesday, September 29, 2020, Kuwait announced the death of the Emir of the country, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The Ninety-one years old prince has been ill for several months and has been in the US for treatment since last July.
