Hamas releases Israeli hostage Arbel Yehud
Shafaq News/ Israeli hostage Arbel Yehud was handed over to the Red Cross while surrounded by Palestinian militants in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza, Israeli Channel 12 reported on Thursday.
In exchange for Yehud's release, Israel will free 30 Palestinian minors and one woman from Israeli prisons.
Earlier today, Hamas released the Israeli soldier Agam Berger, Israeli hostage Gadi Moses, and five Thai workers as part of the third phase of the hostage exchange.
Notably, the hostage release is part of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas that ended the war in Gaza, which resulted in over 47,000 deaths from Israeli airstrikes. The agreement includes the release of dozens of hostages held in Gaza and hundreds of Palestinian prisoners detained by Israel.
Who is Arbel Yehud?
Yehud, born in 1995 in Kibbutz Nir Oz, worked as a space and astronomy guide. She served in the Israeli army and was captured by Palestinian forces during the Al-Aqsa Flood operation on October 7, 2023.
