Iraq names new naval chief following fishermen shooting

Iraq has appointed Maj. Gen. Hamid Rasan as commander of the Iraqi Navy, replacing Mazen Kubyan, a security source told Shafaq News on Wednesday.
Kubyan was relieved of his post in the wake of an incident in which Kuwaiti forces opened fire on Iraqi fishermen, killing one and detaining several others.
An official statement is expected shortly.
