On Saturday, gunmen stormed a government salary distribution center in Baghdad’s Yarmouk district, stealing about $32,000 before fleeing, a source told Shafaq News.
No casualties were reported, and no arrests have been made so far.
The incident comes as Iraq continues to rely heavily on cash-based salary payments, despite efforts to expand electronic payroll systems.
