Israel has removed an “existential threat” in its joint war with the US against Iran, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar claimed on Wednesday, citing missile, proxy and nuclear risks.

On X, Saar said intelligence gathered since the October 7 attacks indicated Iran had planned a multi-front attack combining ballistic missiles with ground operations by allied forces. Israeli security cabinet decisions in June 2025 and February 2026 were designed to neutralize that threat, and the risk of “elimination” had now been removed.

Saar also accused Iran of advancing its nuclear program as part of the threat, while acknowledging that hostile actors remain capable of continued attacks.

Looking ahead, he said future conflict is likely, stressing that Israel will maintain military “strength and readiness” to counter Iran and other threats.

US President Donald Trump earlier said Washington could end the conflict within weeks and that diplomacy was progressing with a “more reasonable” regime. He is due to address the nation later today on the war with Iran.
