More than 100 killings, suicides and sexual assaults against women recorded in Kurdistan
Shafaq News/ Violence against women and suicides has risen in the last eight months of 2019 in Kurdistan region.
The Directorate of Combating Violence against Women published a detailed report on what happened to a group of women in Kurdistan Region during the past eight months.
The Directorate attributed the high rate of violence against women to economic and political factors, and its "significant" impact on the lives of citizens in general and especially on females.
According to the statistics during the last eight months of this year, the directorate recorded (22 cases of murder, 32 cases of suicide, 99 cases of burning, 58 cases of self-burning by fire, 47 cases of sexual violence) in addition to the registration of more than 5,000 lawsuits related to violence accidents against women.
Statistics indicate that violence against women has increased in Kurdistan Region compared to 2018 and 2017.
