Masrour Barzani: Our partnership with the US contributes to the stability of Iraq and the region

Shafaq News / The Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Masrour Barzani met on Saturday the US Defense Secretary Mark Esper, on the sidelines of the second day of the Munich Security Conference, which was launched in Germany with the participation of many decision makers in the world.

The two sides reviewed the latest developments in Iraq and the region, and the importance of strengthening relations between Kurdistan Region and the United States.

The US Secretary of Defense pointed out that Kurdistan Region is an important ally of the United States in the region, and said, "We continue to support and train Peshmerga forces to confront terrorism and combat ISIS."

Prime Minister of KRG thanked the United States, and stressed that the partnership between Kurdistan Region and the United States will not only contribute to the stability of the region, but also to establish security in Iraq and the region.

The meeting comes among a series of meetings that the Prime Minister holds with senior international officials participating in Munich Conference for the period from 14-16 of current February.
