Leader of a Kurdish party dies
Shafaq News/ Abdul Hamid Darwish, secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Progressive Party in Syria has died on Thursday.
In a statement, the Progressive Democrat mourned his secretary, Abdul Hamid Darwish, who died Thursday after a heart attack.
It is noteworthy that Abdul Hamid Haj Darwish was born in 1936 Darbasiyah area in al-Hasakah province.
He was one of the first Kurdish opponents of the Syrian revolution and the demands of the Syrian people.
He contributed to the establishment of the Syrian Kurdish National Council in October 2011.He was one of the founders of the relations between the Kurdish National Council and the Syrian opposition coalition, as well as several opposition political forums and workshops in the early years of the Syrian revolution.
He once won a parliamentary seat for al- Hasakah province in the Syrian People's Assembly (parliament) on the list of independents between 1990 and 1994.
In 2005, he became Vice-President of the Damascus Declaration, which opposed the Assad government after its establishment in the Syrian capital, where it included Kurdish and Arab parties as well as other political and social figures from different components of the country.
