Kurdistan government comments on Taji attack: Any escalation of the situation will harm Iraq
Shafaq News / The Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani condemned on Thursday the attack on Taji camp hosting the international coalition forces, pointing at the same time that the escalation of the situation in the region would cause great harm to Iraq and the people of the entire region.
"I strongly condemn the attack that took place last night on the Iraqi Taji camp, which killed a number of trainers and advisors in the international coalition forces and wounded several others, and we offer our condolences to their families and we wish the wounded a speedy recovery," Barzani said in a statement today.
He added that "actions like this will give way to strengthening extremist groups, while terrorist threats are still continuing in Iraq and the region as a whole."
Barzani added by saying that Iraq faces health, economic and security obstacles that burdened the citizens, and that any escalation of the situation would harm Iraq and the people of all the region.
The Prime Minister expressed his hope in coordination with all the national authorities in the region and the coalition forces to stop these actions and any other sabotage attempt, calling for "more efforts to be made to achieve stability and peace and improve the reality of the citizens."
On Thursday, Kurdistan Regions’ President Nechirvan Barzani strongly condemned last night's attack on coalition forces in Baghdad.
