Erbil court closed after several Covid-19 cases confirmed

Shafaq News / A judicial source reported early Thursday, suspending the official working hours in the Presidency of Appeal Court of Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region for a period of two weeks after two judges and a number of lawyers were diagnosed with Corona virus (Covid-19).

 Due to recordings a number of confirmed cases, it was decided to suspend the official working hours in the court for 14 days, the source told Shafaq News agency.

The source added that the authorities also decided to impose quarantine on the court building during the aforementioned period to conduct a sterilization campaign there.

Regarding that, a statement issued by the Supreme Judicial Council in Kurdistan Region confirmed today that two judges in the presidency of the Appeal Court of Erbil were recorded positive of corona virus.

The council said in the statement that it was also decided to impose quarantine on the presidency of the court for of 14 days.

The Presidency of Kurdistan Parliament had decided on Wednesday to shut the doors of the Parliament for two weeks after one of the parliament’s members and three employees working in it were positively diagnosed with the virus.

According to the Ministry of Health total number of confirmed cases reached 1637, while recoveries reached 546. The total number of hospitalized people was 1061 while the death toll was 30.
