US ambassador to Iraq: Kurdistan has a special status in the American decision-making centers
Shafaq News / The Kurdish leader, Masoud Barzani discussed on Monday with the American ambassador to Iraq, the political situation in the country.
According to a statement issued by Barzani's office, the American ambassador to Iraq, Matthew Tueller, conveyed the greetings of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Barzani, and stressed the importance of the friendship between his country and the Kurdistan Region, adding that the region's special status and importance for the American decision-making centers.
The American ambassador said that his country is ready to help Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to address the problems and strengthen the institutions of the state, stressing his country's ongoing coordination and cooperation with the Peshmerga forces.
In the same context, Barzani thanked the American decision-making centers for their concern for the situation and the status of the Kurdistan Region.
The two sides also discussed the political situation in the region, the challenges facing the Iraqi government and the upcoming Iraqi elections, as well as the implications of COVID-19 on the economic, social and psychological aspects of society.
