Erbil governor: Some people used COVID-19 in politics

Shafaq News / The Governor of Erbil, Firsat Sofi, admonished unnamed parties for the exacerbation of COVID-19 in Kurdistan Region by spreading suspicion among people and involving the virus in politics.

"Corona has become extremely dangerous. This virus has spread completely in alleys, neighborhoods, regions, villages, sub-districts and districts in Erbil", Sofi said on the margin of the inauguration of an electric power transmission line in Mergasur district in Erbil, "the only way to protect ourselves is through the preventive measures by wearing masks and gloves, in addition to avoiding crowded places".

He added, "Kurdistan Regional Government has done everything it can to protect people. However, unfortunately, some people used the Coronavirus in political issues and conflicts and lied to people to bring Kurdistan to this stage we are going through".

"Kurdistan Regional Government, with the same seriousness, wants to protect the people in Kurdistan Region from the virus but people should also take the initiative to follow health instructions and preventive measures", he concluded.
