Arresting a journalist in Al-Sulaymaniyah

According to a statement by The Metro Center for Defending the Rights of Journalists, received by Shafaq News agency, "Bahrooz Jaafar was informed that the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, had filed a complaint against him through one of his lawyers,
therefore he was arrested for eight days".
The statement added that "the security authorities relied on the Iraqi Penal Code and not Law 35 in Kurdistan, since the penalties are more severe, while Law 35 suffices with the fine without the arrest."
The statement called on the president of the republic to be more receptive to publishing some information, especially those that are not based on sources in the presidency.
