A Fatwa forbids exploiting COVID-19 patients in Kurdistan region

Shafaq News / The Union of Islamic Religious Scholars in Kurdistan Region issued on Wednesday a fatwa according to which it is forbidden for the private hospitals and pharmacies to exploit patients in light of the outbreak of COVID-19.

 

The union said in a statement received by Shafaq News agency that it is forbidden to exploit patients by private hospitals and to raise drug prices by pharmacies after the outbreak of COVID-19 on a large scale in Kurdistan Region.

 

The statement added, "Any examination or medication that violates the legal and health instructions is forbidden, and is considered an attempt to cause harm, as it may sometimes cause death directly or indirectly, which is considered killing".

 

Since the outbreak of the virus in the region, 22,278 people have tested positive to the virus (9171 Erbil, 10308 Al-Sulaymaniyah, 2089 Duhok, 710 Halabja), 12807 patients have recovered (4570 Erbil, 6793 Al-Sulaymaniyah, 861 Duhok, 583 Halabja) and 803 passed away (265 Erbil,508 Al-Sulaymaniyah, 18 Duhok, 12 Halabja).
