WHO is waiting for a "miracle" to stop the spread of Corona in Iraq
Shafaq News / The representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Iraq, Adnan Nawar revealed on Monday, that Iraq does not have the components to control Corona virus, in case it becomes an epidemic in the country.
Nawar told Shafaq News that "developed countries like Italy and others have good infrastructure, and despite that, the issue of Corona Virus has gone out of its control and is in an unenviable position. Certainly, the infrastructure in Iraq is worn out, but a divine miracle may happen and Iraq won’t get to the epidemic stage. "
He explained that "the coming weeks will show us the position of the epidemic in Iraq, and if it occurs, health institutions in Iraq cannot bear this crisis, and for this we are counting on the awareness of the citizen by staying at home, in order to reduce the number of Corona infections."
The number of deaths in all of Iraq as a result of corona virus infection increased to 20, while the number of infections reached 233, and recovery was 57, according to a statement of the Iraqi Ministry of Health yesterday, while the Ministry of Health of Kurdistan Region announced Monday, recording 12 new infections in Erbil, bringing the number of infections in the region to 76 cases.
On February 28 last year, the authorities decided to suspend studies in universities and schools and close public assembly centers, to be followed by a series of decisions until they settled on the curfew in cities.
The virus first appeared in Wuhan, central China on December 12, 2019, and spread to more than 100 countries, while the World Health Organization declared an emergency on an international scale to combat it
