UN Security Council step welcomed by US toward the new ISIS leader
Shafaq News / U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo welcomed the the United Nations Security Council’s inclusion to the leader of the terrorist organization ISIS, Amir Muhammad Abd al-Rahman al-Mawla in sanctions list .
Pompeo tweeted “The U.S. welcomes the UN Security Council designation of ISIS terrorist al-Mawla. This is another important step by the international community to ensure ISIS's lasting defeat.
The UN Security Council had previously placed Al-Mawla on the sanctions list.
The Council’s Sanctions Committee decided to include Al-Mawla, an Iraqi, on the sanctions list in accordance with Resolution No. 2368 on imposing sanctions on ISIS and Al-Qaeda, for planning activities on behalf of ISIS and Al-Qaeda and financing these organizations.
The committee stated that "al-Mawla played a role in kidnapping and killing Yezidis and trafficking in human beings."
It is noteworthy that the US State Department placed al-Mawla on the terrorist list in mid-March.
On October 27 last year, US President Donald Trump announced the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in a special operation by his country's forces, northwest of Syria.
