UN representative visits Najaf to meet Al-Sistani

Shafaq News/ The representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert arrived Monday morning to Najaf city.

An informed source told Shafaq News, that Plasschaert will meet the supreme religious authority of Shiites in Iraq, Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, and will hold a press conference after the meeting.

On Sunday, the UN mission in Iraq announced a package of proposals to break the deadlock over the bloody protests in Baghdad and other Shi'ite-dominated provinces.
