UN defines a way to solve Baghdad - Erbil problems

“It is necessary to address the problems between the region and Baghdad through drafting oil and gas law , it is disappointing that despite the passage of years but the problems are still unsolved , The representative of the Secretary -General of the United Nations in Iraq , Nicolas Meladanov said in an exclusive interview with Al-Arabiya TV , briefed by " Shafaq News”.

He noted that oil is the owned by all Iraqis without any discrimination.

On the approval of the draft budget , which is now under negotiation between Kurdistan Region and the federal government in Baghdad , he stressed the need to expedite the ratification of the draft budget and be   supported by everyone , pointing to the importance of addressing the current problems before contesting the upcoming parliamentary elections .

He noted that Iraq is going through complicated conditions because of the elections pointing out that the formation of the next Iraqi government after the elections needs long-term negotiations .

It is worth mentioning that the Iraqi budget bill for the current year has not been passed by the parliament so far because of differences between Baghdad and Erbil on a number of issues , particularly the issue of the oil export from the region to Turkey without Baghdad's approval .
