Protestors injured by live ammunition in a governmental building in Najaf
Shafaq News / Citizens were injured, on Sunday evening, in fire fight that took place in a governmental building in Najaf during a demonstration demanding the dismissal of the governor.
A security source told Shafaq News agency, that demonstrators set fire to the gate of the Diwan of Najaf Governorate and marched to the governor's home, Luay Al-Yasiri, demanding his dismissal.
Al-Yasiri, who belongs to the Islamic Da'wa Party, acclaimed his position in 2016.
The source added that the security forces used live ammunition to prevent the protestors from reaching the governor's house.
Najaf province contains the shrine of Imam Ali, a cousin of the Prophet of Islam Muhammad, as well as the headquarter of Shi'a Hawza.
