Parliament reprieves the government until end of June to send draft budget
Shafaq News / The Iraqi parliament gave the government on Wednesday until the end of June to send the draft budget for 2020.
Shafaq News reporter said that Parliament voted on a decision obliging the government to send the budget bill no later than June 30.
Parliament also finished the first reading of the domestic and foreign borrowing bill to finance the fiscal deficit of 2020.
Iraq has not approved the federal budget law for the current year as a result of the protest’s crisis that have swept the country since last October.
Where protests forced the previous government, headed by Adel Abdel-Mahdi to resign.
The government is preparing the draft budget at a time the country suffers from a cramping financial crisis due to the oil prices collapse in global markets, since Iraq depends on revenue from the sale of crude to finance about 95 % of the country's expenditures.
