Nujaifi informs Washington on the presence of complaints on elections

A statement from Nujaif’s Office received by “Shafaq News " said that “he had received in his own office in Baghdad , the U.S. ambassador in Iraq , Robert Stephen Beecroft , noting that "the meeting included discussing the latest developments in the Iraqi scene and developments on the Iraqi arena , as the two sides discussed the subject of the parliamentary elections and their importance in changing the situation in the country . "

Nujaifi stressed " the need to speed up the final results of the elections because of the major role in the activation of the dialogues and understandings in order to form a government of strong and true national partnership," and expressed " deep concern about the presence of a huge amount of complaints and appeals , as well as sabotage of some ballot boxes during transferring them before arriving second counting and sorting operations. "

"Some of the security forces controlled some polling stations and evacuated observers representing the political blocs to participate in elections before the initial count and do not opening other centers to citizens because this is considered as depriving them from their electoral right " , persisting that “ he had " several remarks " about the special vote according to the received information and that he received a special request " for an emergency session of parliament to discuss these problems and the overall violations ."

He expressed the hope that " these violations won’t be serious in order not to affect the outcome of the election in general , or cancel some of them ."

For his part, the U.S. ambassador stressed to the " stability of the position of the United States and the goal of complete neutrality and stand at the same distance from all political blocs in order to produce a stabilization efforts in Iraq and to achieve security and prosperity ."

The Independent High Electoral Commission has identified 25th of current May as a deadline for the announcement of the results of sorting and counting , before submitting complaints and appeals and decide on them ; and announce them officially.
