Ministry of Justice warns of “humanitarian disaster “in the prisons

Minister of Justice , Hassan al-Shammari said in a statement received by " Shafaq News " that "the delay in approving the budget has contributed to the accumulation of debt owed ​​by the ministry to the contractors until it reached nearly 40 Billion Dinars which is increasing if the current situation remained as it is”.

He stressed the need for the Ministry of Finance to respond to repeated official letters submitted ​​by the ministry to allocate sufficient funds for the payment of dues certified for the companies.

Al-Shammari warned of " the consequences of the humanitarian situation if   companies that equip prisons with food rejected to provide food especially in the political situation and electoral quo and possibly some of these entities exploitation to the situation to promote electoral propaganda ."

"The percentages allocated to the Ministry of Finance does not fit with the amounts to be disbursed to contractors under increasing number of prisoners arrested recently ,” he added.

The owners of food companies have threatened to stop processing food for the reform prisons if the ministry didn’t pay their owed debts ​​since a few months ago .

Approving the annual budget of the state in spite of entering the country the fourth month of the new year has been delayed ; due to differences among the political blocs about it , especially the differences between the federal government and Kurdistan Regional Government .
