Shafaq News / A leading figure in the State of Law coalition, led by Nuri al-Maliki revealed on Sunday the features of the government that Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi is working to form.

" Al-Fateh Alliance and Towards Reform will have a lion's share in Allawi’s government  similar to the government of Adel Abdul-Mahdi," Jassim Muhammad Jaafar , a leader said in a special statement to Shafaq News.

The President of the Republic, Barham Salih  had appointed Allawi to form the government early this month, and he has 30 days to present his formation to Parliament to give it confidence.

Allawi was nominated after agreeing between the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr and the head of the "Al-Fateh" coalition, Hadi al-Amiri.

Jaafar said, "The distribution of positions in Allawi’s government will be under the supervision of Towards Reform and Fatah, and they will have the lion's share."

He added by saying, "Any personality will not occupy a ministerial portfolio without the approval of Al-Fateh and Towards Reform, even if it is an independent personality," adding that "this matter does not apply to ministries only, but includes all important positions and special degrees in the Iraqi state."

Sadr faces charges of opportunism and riding a wave of popular protests against the government and ruling parties in the context of his efforts to obtain more gains during his talks with his rival Al-Amiri.

For months, Sadr made himself as the most supporter of the popular movements, before turning against them as soon as he agreed with al-Amiri to assign Allawi. Subsequently, he ordered his blue hat supporters to suppress the protests.

Allawi, a former Communications Minister, does not enjoy the support of the demonstrators who are demanding the selection of an independent figure who has not held high positions in the international community and away from foreign dependency, especially Iran.
