to head the commission until the election of a new president , succeeding the former head, Falah Hassan Shanshal .

The Federal Supreme Court announced last week , canceling a decision of electing , Falah Hassan Shanshal as head of the Justice and Accountability Commission .

The deputy chairman of the Commission and its spokesman , Bakhtiar al-Qhathi told “Shafaq News", that “Basem al-Badri, currently holds the position of deputy head of the Commission until the election of a new president.

Al- Qhathi added that presiding over the commission by al-Badri came by the decision of Prime Minister , Nuri al-Maliki .

Al-Maliki assigned Shanshal last October to head the Justice and Accountability Commission , to replace the former president , Ali al-Lami , who was assassinated in the summer of 2011.

But al-Maliki ended his assignment last February and assigned the task to Basem al-Badri temporarily .

Maliki 's decision came a few days after the issuance of a decision by the Justice and Accountability commission on the inclusion of the Head of Justice court , Medhat al-Mahmoud by de-Baathification procedures . The latter is close to Maliki .

The parliament returned Shanshal in the 22 of last July to office through voting on choosing him as Head of the accountability and justice Commission .

The Iraqi parliament had previously acknowledged in 12 of January, 2008 the law of accountability and justice to replace the de-Baathification law, and provide less strict measures against members of the lower ranks of Baath Party .

The new law has stipulated the establishment of a High Commission for Accountability and Justice instead of the De-Baathification Commission, which announced its establishment in May 2003 , among the first decisions taken by the temporary Coalition Authority headed by the civil administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer .

The Commission works to provide information which would reveal the identity of Baathists with degrees of specific ranks (senior officials) to be separated from state facilities , accordingly the army had been dissolved and thousands of teachers and staff had been expelled from their jobs as anyone proved to be a member of the Baath Party has been prevented from holding governmentjobs.
