Lavrov : All arms deals concluded during Maliki's visit to Russia will be applied

Lavrov said at a joint press conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister , Hoshyar Zebari, attended by " Shafaq News " , that “ the two countries discussed developing relations in all fields with Iraq .

He added that the agreements concluded in the military field during Maliki's visit will be applied appropriately, referring to his agreement with al-Maliki to speed up supplying Iraq with weapons in order to combat terrorism .

Lavrov expressed his country's concern about terrorism in Iraq and the region , pointing that he agrees with Maliki on " the need to combat this evil , according to the principles of the United Nations."

Lavrov expressed his country's support in Iraq to take the necessary measures to achieve security and stability through its current operations in pursuit of armed groups .

Lavrov arrived in the morning to the capital Baghdad on an unannounced visit .

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced in a statement briefed by "Shafaq News", that “ Lavrov meetings will be in Baghdad and will focus on issues of activating cooperation between Russia and Iraq in politics , trade , economic and humanitarian fields “ .

Iraq has signed deals to buy weapons worth 4.2 billion dollars with Russia during the visit of Prime Minister , Nuri al-Maliki , according to the Russian media , which was marred by suspicions of corruption .

Both the governments of Iraq and Russia denied suspicions raised by some Iraqi political parties , through local and internationalmedia.
