Kurdish MP: Baghdad should honor Peshmarga for saving civilians
during the events of Mosul , Kirkuk, Salahuddin and Diyala were gave "martyrs" in order to provide protection for the elements of the army, the police and citizens.
Baffy said in a press release received by “Shafaq News", that “ the Iraqi armed forces was supposed to be formed from all the components of Iraq, as stipulated in the constitution in article 9, but what happened is that the army became like one color and built on the basis of loyalty to a particular party.
He explained that Peshmarga forces was the first nucleus of the new army which is a part of the Iraqi defense system, noting that the Iraqi Federal laws budgets contain an article about the rights of Peshmarga Finance forces (salaries – arming - and equipment).
However, Baghdad did not pay one dinars for Peshmarga forces since 2007 until today, which is estimated at about one billion dollars almost every year.
He added when the armed forces "collapsed" and the federal police "ran away" from insurgents in Nineveh, Kirkuk, Salahuddin and Diyala provinces, Peshmarga forces remained in place and rushed to rescue them and filled some of the blanks, maintained the lives and property of citizens in those locations.
Peshmarga forces have made "martyrs" and the victims in order to save the military and the police and protect citizens, they offered themselves to hazards due to their humanitarian and national attitude, pointing out that they deserve to be honored by the institutions of the federal government and human rights organizations and the rules of the Iraqi people of all components.
Kurdish Peshmarga forces have moved into a number of disputed areas in which the Iraqi security forces were protecting these areas after the sudden withdrawal of the army in Nineveh, Salahuddin, Kirkuk and Diyala provinces as ISIL gunmen seized control on them more than two weeks ago.
