ISIS releases hostages in Diyala
Shafaq News / Islamic State (ISIS) released on Saturday two hostages who were abducted about 10 days ago on the outskirts of Jabara sub-district, north of Diyala, a local official in Diyala revealed.
ISIS militants have released two brothers who had been abducted 10 days ago from their farm on the outskirts of Jabara sub-district ,as they are in good condition ,giving no further details,” The director of the sub- district, Aref Al-Kiji told Shafaq News agency.
While a source in the sub-district confirmed that the abducted brother’s release was in exchange for an undisclosed financial ransom.
Jubara sub-district is the smallest district in Diyala Governorate, it is affiliated to Khanaqin district, about 70 km away from it, with a population of 22,000 people and an area of 16,000 dunums. Its people were subject to displacement and deportation by the previous regime. As the Kurds constitute about 60% of the aboriginal population, where most of the families have returned After the fall of the regime to the district in 2003, according to Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution.
