Iraq to drill 20 oil wells in the south

Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced on Wednesday that the Iraqi Drilling Company signed a contract with Dhi Qar Oil Company to drill 20 wells in al- Nasiriyah oil field.

Fayyad Hassan Nehmeh, Undersecretary for Extraction Affairs said that the contract was signed between two companies within the oil sector to develop production in al- Nasiriyah field through drilling 20 wells that add 40 thousand barrels of crude oil to the production rates in the field in addition to investment in the associated gas at rates up to 20 million Standard cubic feet of gas that will be used as fuel for power plants.

He added that this project will open the door to provide employment opportunities for the Iraqi labor in Dhi Qar province.

For his part, the Director General of the Iraqi Drilling Company , Bassem Mohammad Khudair said that the contract includes the implementation of drilling 20 wells by using four modern towers, and that the company will provide all the possibilities for the implementation of the contract within the prescribed period of two years, at a financial cost of (128) million dollars.
