Iraq doubles tests to reach 10 000 after Corona infections increase

Shafaq News / The Ministry of Health and Environment announced that it is currently conducting between 5 to 6 thousand tests per day of Corona virus and that it will reach during the coming days to 10 thousand tests after receiving the first set of diagnostic requirements for Covid- 19, which includes 50 thousand of "PCR kits" for the diagnosis of infected people, and 40,000 intermediates used to plant the virus.

The semi-official newspaper, Al-Sabah, quoted Health Minister Dr. Hassan Al-Tamimi as saying that the noticeable increase in the rates of new infections of Corona virus needs a great effort to control infection rates and contain the epidemic in a way that guarantees reducing the infections to low rates. By doubling the number of field tests in the areas that witnessed many infections, especially in Sadr City, Zafaraniya, Shula, Baldiyat, Al-Huriya areas, as well as areas in Basra Governorate.

He added that the number of tests that are currently taking place ranges between 5 to 6 thousand tests  daily, and during the next few days the number of tests will rise to 10 000 a day in conjunction with what reaches the ministry from PSR testing devices, noting that the joint checkpoints in the roads will be supported by medical staff conducting field inspection operations of citizens directly and not allowing any person to cross without being subjected to tests procedures.
