Iraq announces opening a bank account to collect donations to combat Corona

Shafaq News / The Iraqi Finance Minister, Fuad Hussein announced on Sunday that Iraq has opened a bank account to collect donations to fight Corona virus in the country.

Hussein tweeted that he chaired a meeting that included the governor of the Central Bank, directors of al-Rafidain , al-Rashid and the Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) and the head of the retirement board for the purpose of securing financial support for efforts to contain Corona virus.

"We decided to open a special bank account for donation, as TBI Bank contributed with $ 5 million and Al-Rafidain and Al-Rasheed with contributed 3 million," he added.

Today, Sunday, the number of infected people in Kurdistan Region increased to 29 cases of new Corona virus, including one death and one recovered, while confirmed infections throughout Iraq exceeded 100 mark, including 10 deaths, and 24 cases of recovery.

Authorities in Sulaimaniyah and Erbil have imposed a curfew since Friday night - Saturday for 48 hours in an effort to curb the outbreak of Corona virus.

It is noteworthy that the crisis cell in the governorates of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Salah al-Din, Maysan, Dhi Qar, Babil, Nineveh and Karbala decided to impose a curfew, at a time when the governorates of Basra, Kirkuk, Muthanna and Wasit announced the prohibition of movement with other governorates.
