International Parliament: Al-Alwani’s arrest is an excellent legal action

The foreign minister of the parliament, Haitham Abu Saeed said in a statement reported for " Shafaq News " that “ The arrest of Iraqi MP , Ahmed al-Alwani by the security and political authorities in Iraq is an excellent legal action.

“MP, Alwani has made remarkable crime, where he opened fire on the raiding force on his brother’s house, Ali Suleiman al-Alwani, in addition to the confirm of ground forces commander Lt. Gen. Ali Ghaidan on the existence of a warrant to arrest Alwani’s brother.

Abu Saeed said according to the statement, that Article 63 , paragraph (b ) of the constitution is applied not the first paragraph of the mentioned article .

The statement pointed out that Abu Saeed had asked the government, the Iraqi parliament and religious leaders during his official visits to Iraq to put an end to statements made by MP al-Alwani , which aims to sectarian strife between the two Islamic communities in Iraq .

Abu Saeed, warned of the exploitation of this process in order to achieve political objectives, which may lead to more internal strife.

The Iraqi security forces arrested MP Ahmed al-Alwani at dawn on Saturday after a raid on his home in Ramadi in Anbar province .

Alwani belongs to the Sunni-backed Iraqiya bloc and has been a strong critic of Maliki and an influential figure in the protest movement.

The violent arrest of Ahmed al-Alwani is likely to inflame tensions in Sunni-dominated Anbar, where protesters have been demonstrating against what they see as marginalization of their sect by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's Shi'ite-led government.
