Death toll among Peshmerga forces rise after ISIS attack on Koljo
Shafaq News/ The number of casualties among Peshmerga forces has risen in response to an attack launched by ISIS on "Dekka" village affiliated to Koljo district north of the disputed Khanaqin district between Erbil and Baghdad.
The source told Shafaq News that the attack carried out by ISIS in "Deka" village left three dead and two wounded of Peshmerga forces.
The source added that Peshmerga managed to thwart the attack despite the intensity of the battle with the elements of the organization.
The Ministry of Peshmerga issued a statement on Wednesday evening following the attack, saying "with deep regret, ISIS terrorists launched an armed attack on one of the regiments of the 3rd Infantry Brigade of Kurdistan Peshmerga forces within the borders of Koljo area (Kermian axis), and was attacked strongly but Peshmerga forces thwarted their attempts. "
The statement added, "We assure the people of Kurdistan that Peshmerga forces are at the highest levels of readiness and preparedness to protect the people of Kurdistan , the homeland and eliminate terrorism and terrorists."
