Basra streets and markets closed after Covid-19 cases spike
Shafaq News / The security authorities in Basra Governorate closed on Saturday many roads in the governorate, especially Al-Ashar area, after registering high rate of infections with Covid-19 virus.
The security forces in coordination with the municipal departments have closed some areas, including Al-Ashar area, which is considered the center of the province as measures to limit the movement of citizens who do not adhere to the health prevention measures in light of Basra recording numerous infections that reached more than 100 active cases including medical and health workers, Shafaq News Agency reporter said.
A number of citizens complained to our reporter that the streets were closed with concrete barriers, including Al-Ashar area, causing traffic jams in some areas and streets.
On Friday, an official medical source said that about 100 new cases of Corona virus were registered in Basra, the southernmost province of Iraq.
