Barzani: Our contacts with al-Maliki will continue on the crisis

with a view to cooperate and coordinate on security developments in the country, while the United Nations called on all Iraqi factions to form a council that represents all to expedite the session of the next parliament to continue the political process in Iraq.

 A statement for the presidency of KRG , received by “Shafaq News” said that “ Barzani received on Saturday evening, Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq , Nikolai Miladinov to discuss the latest security and military developments in Nineveh, Tikrit and Diyala provinces and the battles between combatants, and the conditions of displaced people who had gone to safe areas in Kurdistan Region during the past few days in the borders of Erbil and Dohuk provinces.

The parties held after the meeting, a joint press conference, attended by "Shafaq News", in which “ Barzani and highlighted Miladinov on the substance of the meeting with renewed emphasis on Nechirvan Barzani’s government that will fight "terrorism where it was."

 Nechirvan Barzani noted when Kirkuk was attacked, Maliki formally asked the Office of Kurdistan Region to receive the second division headquarters "so that a problem does not occur."

For his part, Miladinov explained that Iraq is currently facing a significant risk, and that the only way to face these risks is having a good coordination between the Iraqi government and KRG in order to move together and cut the road in front of these risks and address them.

Miladinov called all components of the Iraqi Arabs, Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds form a council that represents all, asking everyone to expedite the session of the next parliament to continue the political process in Iraq.

Miladinov announced that Iraq's problems don’t concern him only but its repercussions will affect the entire region and urged neighboring countries to participate and cooperate in addressing the crisis.

For his part, Barzani explained that contacts are continuing to cooperate and coordinate with the office of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and others, pointing out that this is "a very natural and necessary at the same time."

Barzani assured the companies operating in Kurdistan Region that the region is a safe area and they can continue their work.

Regarding the Liberation of journalist Kamran Sattar, which is arrested by the armed groups and injured , Barzani said that efforts are underway to liberate this journalist.

On the identity of those groups that occupied Mosul, Tikrit and other areas, Barzani explained that a part of the groups are from "Daash organization ", which is the main past, adding that the issue is not related to terrorism only but also linked to political solutions.

Barzani stressed that it was supposed to take a step in this area since the last two years, when the problem appeared in Ramadi, indicating that al-Maliki has to try to address those problems and work on not exacerbated it to the extent that it has reached today.

Peshmarga Kurdish forces have entered many of the disputed areas in Mosul, Salahuddin and Kirkuk after Iraqi army forces left their positions as reported by the news reports.
