Ban Ki-moon calls Iraqi politicians for comprehensive talks
in the face of rising intensity of the conflict , while pointing to the " threats " facing the country seriously .
“Once again the country is facing serious threats on its stability," noting that " he discussed many of his concerns with Iraqi leaders and urged all parties to abide to dialogue and respect for the rule of law and human rights,” Ban Ki-moon said in his speech to the Security Council at the beginning of the normal discussion about the situation in the Middle East; after returning from a visit to Iraq and the region, briefed by “Shafaq News”.
"Today, I recall the Iraqi political leaders to fulfill their responsibilities to ensure an inclusive dialogue, to promote social cohesion and concrete political progress ."
The Security Council has recently expressed regret about the ongoing clashes in Fallujah and Ramadi cities in Anbar province , also condemned the attacks carried out by militants linked to al -Qaeda , and stressed the critical importance of the continuation of the national dialogue and national unity.
The situation in Anbar province is still unsolved amid mounting tension between the conflicting parties ; as Iraqi army conferred by armed tribes confront armed militants backed by other tribal gunmen, while thousands of residents of Ramadi and Fallujah cities escaped to neighboring provinces and to other areas for fear of the bad security situation and the outbreak of widespread fighting .
