America condemns “Daash” targeting Dams and undertakes delivering weapons to the Iraqi army
The Iraqi government has been concerned recently because of the control of the insurgents on dams of the Euphrates River in Anbar province , which led to the emergence of fears from flooding in the areas surrounding dams on one hand and the scarcity of water in the central and southern provinces on the other hand.
A statement by the U.S. embassy in Baghdad received by " Shafaq News " mentioned that the United States " deplores strongly the continued terrorist acts by the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant " Daash " and its followers , especially targeting dams and other vital infrastructure facilities that kills innocent Iraqi citizens , "indicating that" in the last week hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis suffered from water shortages as a result of Daash actions. "
"This is in addition to the ongoing Daash campaign of suicide bombings and terrorist attacks that targeted innocent citizens ," adding that "the United States is committed to help the Iraqi security forces to respond to terrorist threats and protect citizens ."
" In response to specific requests from the Iraqi side , the United States provided Iraq with large quantities of weapons and ammunition in line with the strategic framework agreement and security partnership between the two sides ," stressing that " we will continue to accelerate the delivery of shipments in order to ensure that the Iraqi security forces with modern and effective weapons that suit the serious threat posed by Daash on Iraq and the region,” the statement added.
