America comments on Al-Sistani's position towards demonstrations in Iraq

Shafaq News/ The leader of the "National Wisdom" movement, Ammar al-Hakim, met on Thursday with U.S. Ambassador to Baghdad ,Matthew Tueller .

Hakim said during the meeting, "We reaffirmed the need to be purely Iraqi solution to all crises of the country away from foreign interference," pointing out that "the National Wisdom Movement is following and monitoring the reform steps taken by the government as an opposition movement and to meet the demands of the demonstrators."

He stressed "the importance of protecting peaceful demonstrators , providing a safe atmosphere for the exercise of their constitutional right, and the need to hold accountable the perpetrators who caused victims."

In turn, the U.S. ambassador stressed respect for the will of Iraqis and their ability to solve their internal problems, noting that the speech of the highest religious authority on the recent non-interference of other countries in the Iraqi issue is respected and appreciated.
