Al-Kadhimi links ISIS attack on PMF with the government formation
Shafaq News / The designated Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Al-Kadhimi , considered the attack carried out by ISIS overnight against the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) south of Tikrit, as an investment to the state of political rivalry.
"The operation carried out by the criminal factions of terrorism represents a desperate attempt to invest in a state of political rivalry that impedes the formation of the government to carry out its national duty to protect the security of citizens and pursue terrorism throughout the country,” Al-Kadhimi said in a statement received by Shafaq News.
"These are attempts that require more responsibility in dealing with the various political forces with the file of forming the government away from the spirit of exclusivity and quotas, which has been proven not to establish a complete political and security stability."
Local and security sources said that PMF named Hashd al-Shaabi in Arabic were exposed at Saturday dawn to multiple attacks by ISIS in areas south of Tikrit city northwest of Baghdad , the local capital of Salahuddin Governorate, killing 11 elements and wounding two others.
"ISIS attacks from 4 axes," Tal al-Dahab, Meckeshifiya district, the outskirts of al-Dur and east of Samarra” killed 11 members of the Tigris Brigade - PMF and wounding 2 others, “ The Mayor of Samarra, southeast of Salahuddin , Mahmoud Khalaf al-Samarrai, told Shafaq News.
"The security forces and PMF responded to the attacks and made some losses in ISIS ranks, whose final outcome has not been clear so far," Samarrai added.
"While a force headed from the headquarters of the same brigade for reinforcement, a roadside bomb exploded on this force, killing three fighters and wounding four others."
The crisis cell also pointed out that "a fighter was killed by direct fire by ISIS terrorist gangs , targeting a force belonging to the 41st Brigade of the PMF Tal Al-Dahab village in Yathrib sub-district, within Samarra area of operations.
The southeast areas of Salahuddin are witnessing attacks and continuing security incidents because of the presence of dens and strongholds of ISIS, taking advantage of the rugged geographical nature and the vast areas that witness a security vacuum.
