Shafaq News / A force of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) managed  on Monday, to foil an ISIS attack between the of Diyala and Salahuddin provinces.

The Major General of 21st brigade in the PMF, Khudair Al-Matrohi told Shafaq News that "a force of the 21st brigade repelled this morning an attack carried out by13 ISIS elements in " Al-Aith "area located between the borders of Samarra district and Diyala province, and forced them to flee without any injuries or losses in the ranks of PMF. "

Al-Matrouhi warned of "a large increase in the number of ISIS within " Matbijah "divisions located between Diyala and Salahuddin and the increase in terrorist activity," noting that "most ISIS elements escaped from other provinces due to security operations."

Al-Matrouhi called on the leaders of Diyala and Salahuddin operations to "implement comprehensive and effective security operations to clear sectors of terrorist dens and ward off their continuing threat to Diyala and Salahuddin provinces and parts of Kirkuk.

Matbija border areas between Diyala and Salahuddin are the most dangerous hotbeds and dens of terrorism because of the rugged geographical nature that enabled ISIS gangs to take refuge and safe havens and became a springboard for terrorist attacks in areas of Diyala and Kirkuk outskirts.

In recent weeks, attacks by suspected ISIS militants have increased, particularly in the rugged region between Kirkuk, Salahuddin and Diyala provinces, known as the "Triangle of Death".
